Smart Works Reading named as Ladies Day Official Charity 2nd July 2019

Guards Polo Club is delighted to announce that Smart Works Reading, a leading UK charity covering the Thames Valley focusing on styling and coaching unemployed women for job success, is to be the official charity partner of its Ladies’ Charity Polo Day in 2019. This popular polo event showcases the best of women’s polo, including the final of the 18-goal Lord Patrick Beresford Cup, in addition to raising thousands of pounds for women-focused charities.

Working closely with the Club’s local Smart Works office in Reading, Guards Polo Club aims to highlight the excellent work that this charity carries out to support disadvantaged women getting into work. Neil Hobday, Guards Polo Club’s CEO, said: “As a father and stepfather to three girls I know at first-hand how stressful that first job interview can be. Knowing that you look right is a vital confidence boost at such a key moment and being properly prepared is always essential – it may make the difference between winning and losing here on the polo field as well as in the workplace. So I am delighted that Guards Polo Club can showcase Smart Works’ invaluable work through our Ladies’ Charity Polo Day.”

Sarah Burns MBE, Chair of Smart Works Reading, added: “We are passionate about supporting women in our local community and witness the transformational impact on the women we see every day. We play a vital role in re-connecting women to their self-confidence, belief and worth. We are thrilled to be working with the Guards Polo Club as official Ladies’ Day charity partner. With your support, we can raise funds which will enable us to give more local women the self-belief and the practical tools to start a new chapter in their lives.”
