Guards Polo Club News Back
David Walton Masters 20th October 2025

Guards Polo Club's Chairman Lt Col Sean O'Dwyer, the Board of Directors, Players and Members of Guards Polo Club were deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected death of the Club's former Chairman David Walton Masters last week. David was Chairman of the Club from 2000 - 2002, steering Guards Polo Club successfully through the foot and mouth crisis of 2001 when no polo could be played at Smith's Lawn. David joined the Club as a Player in 1979, competing with his own low-goal side Wilkinson Sword. He played in several medium-goal teams and would later play alongside his son Cameron. In addition to polo at Guards Polo Club, David was a strong supporter of schools and university polo, taking on the role of the Senior Chairman of Oxford University Polo Club for many years. We will publish a full tribute to David in the 2026 Yearbook and send our deepest condolences to Cameron and to David's many friends and family.
