Bid now for Lovelocks Shadow stallion fee and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care 5th October 2023

Professional polo player Charlie Hanbury, founder of the Lovelocks polo pony bloodline, has generously donated one stallion service fee to Lovelocks Shadow for Guards Polo Club’s Macmillan Cancer Support charity auction. This home-bred stallion by Lovelocks Zazoo is out of Lovelocks Ilusive. His stallion fee is currently £1,500.

The auction will run for 7 days starting on Thursday 5 October 2023 and closing at 5pm on Thursday 12 October 2023. The auction is open to both Members and Non-Members of the Club. If you would like to take part please email your highest bid to Tara Bown in the Polo Office at [email protected]. The successful bidder will be notified by the  Polo Office on Friday 13 October 2023. All further arrangements will then be made by the successful bidder and Lovelocks Stud directly.*

Lovelocks Shadow’s dam was named the Best Playing Pony in the final of the 22-goal Prince of Wales Trophy at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in 2019. Lovelocks Ilusive then received the same accolade in the Tramontana Cup, played as a Semi-Final match of the 2020 Gold Cup at Cowdray Park, when ridden by Gonzalo Pieres.

His sire, Lovelocks Zazoo, is by Open Trueno and out of Irenita Favorita. He is now retired after playing 12 years at the highest level in Argentina. Zazoo has sired some great mares including Lovelocks Monkey, Lovelocks Eclipse, Lovelocks Sneaky and Lovelocks Playmaker.

Shadow himself has played all levels in Argentina and is now based here in the UK. His first crop of foals was on the ground in Argentina in 2022 and they all seem smart with good bone and a relaxed temperament.
