This trophy is the oldest polo silverware still played for in the UK, dating back to 1871, some 84 years before Guards Polo Club was founded. It is a wonderful record of the history of military polo here in the UK. That said it is also a brilliant reminder of Guards Polo Club's early days as a military club. Today the trophy is played as the final of a three-match inter-regimental competition, so the very best military squads will compete in this match. The second game of the day is for the United Services Cup. This will feature an Armed Forces Polo Association team in action against a US Military squad.
