River runs best in Lycetts Polo Pony Championship 27th September 2023

Congratulations to the Earl of Tyrone's River, winner of the Lycetts International Thoroughbred Polo Championship. River won the Five-Year-Old Class and was later named overall champion, earning Richard Tyrone £2,000 in prize money. 
The competition, which was organised by professional player Jack Richardson in conjunction with the International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses, took place at Guards Polo Club earlier this week and attracted strong entries across all four classes. Prizes were awarded for the Best Turned Out in each class in addition to the £1,000 individual class winners. These were:
Three-Year-Olds
Golden Verse (Twilight Son x Simply Shining). Owned by Jack Richardson.
Long Weekend (Ardad x Happy Escape) won the Best Turned Out prize. Owned by Jack Richardson. 
Four-Year-Olds
Chattonga Girl (Highland Reel x Gabardine). Owned by Pedro Harrison. Chattonga Girl also received the Best Turned Out prize. 
Five-Year-Olds
River (Epaulette x Anytimeatall). Owned by the Earl of Tyrone.
Roseacre (Prince of Lir x Balla Rose) won the Best Turned Out prize. Owned by Robin Ormerod.
Six-to-Eight-Year-Olds
Dark Hedges (8 years) (Zebedee x Bella Chica). Owned by Ed Morris.
Melinoe (8 years) (Maxios x Hecate) won the Best Turned Out prize. Owned by Jenn Sponer and ridden by Max Sponer.
