Jock Green-Armytage bids farewell at Chairman's Awards Evening

Jock Green-Armytage retired as Chairman of Guards Polo Club at the annual Chairman's Awards Dinner, held on the penultimate day of the 2018 season. The Club's CEO Neil Hobday presented Jock with a beautiful, Spink medallion to mark his six years at the helm of the Club. Meanwhile, his wife Susie, who has been a fantastic support to both Jock and the Club, was presented with an impressive bouquet of Roses Only roses.

Although Jock is stepping down from his role as Chairman, he remains a playing member of the Club. Jock first started playing at Guards Polo Club in 1973 with his own Saracens team. The highlight of his playing career came in 1985 when he won the Royal Windsor and the Archie David Cups on the same weekend.

Jock was not the only one to receive gifts on this evening though. This was also the opportunity for Guards Polo Club to celebrate the 2018 polo season with its annual awards. The winners were:

  • Best Team - Alan Fall's Mad Dogs
  • Most Improved Player - Charles Cooney
  • Best Player Off Their Handicap - Jacinto Crotto
  • Best Pro - Matt Perry
  • Best Umpire - Nick Pepper
  • Employee of the Year - Head Steward David Dickman
  • Contribution to Club Life - Jane Broadbent & Richard Laughlin
