The Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC) Trophy Day has been held at Guards Polo Club for 16 years. The polo features an invited GCC polo team to play against a hand-picked Guards squad, Before the sport on the field the organisers of the day, the BMG Foundation will host a lunch in the Clubhouse, in the presence of HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, wife of HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation. During this event the winners of the BMG Foundation's Our Water Our Life competition will be announced. Students were asked to create a campaign to raise awareness of diminishing water supplies and show Arab families how they can preserve these precious supplies.
HM The Queen also historically attends this event to present the prizes and host the annual Eton tea party in the Royal Box. All guests, wherever they may be watching the game though, will be entertained by the music of the Band of the Coldstream Guards.
As this event falls in Royal Ascot Week all members of the Royal Enclosure are welcome to attend the polo and watch the match from the Club’s Members’ Enclosures.
