Varsity and schools polo line ups revealed for Jack Wills Varsity Day

Oxford returns to Guards Polo Club triumphant this Saturday, having dominated the Jack Wills Varsity match in recent years. This year they face their old rivals Cambridge, who make a welcome return to Smiths' Lawn.

The Club is also delighted to see the return of the Eton team to this annual extravaganza of student polo. Last year the school was laid low by swine flu and had to abandon its plans to play against their old adversaries Harrow. This year though they are fit and ready for a challenge. Harrow is once again fielding its star player - Jack Richardson. Now playing off an impressive three goals, Jack deservedly won the Most Valuable Player award last year in his team's victorious match over Millfield, and he will be looking  to repeat that feat in 2010.

The concluding student game of the day is a celebration of Ivy League polo and a match featuring Harvard v Yale.Harvard have dominated this annual battle since its inception in 2008 and so Yale will be hoping for a victory in this, their third year of meeting.

Jack Wills Varsity Day begins with some rather older "students" taking to the field. At 10.30am the Old Blues match begins. Oxford will be fielding the former leading UK lady player, Claire Tomlinson, while Cambridge can call upon the talents of two-goaler Jeremy Allen. This display of more mature polo is followed by the Old Etonians v the Old Harrovians at 11.30am, but the teams have not yet been confirmed at the time of writing.
