The Guards team recaptured the annual Ivan The Terrible Twilight Polo Challenge Trophy, defeating the Moscow Polo team 9-5. The Russian team - which featured Dimiti Chebotarv, from the sponsors, Ivan The Terrible - were ahead after the first chukka, 3-2. However, the home side came back into the game with four goals in the second to give them a 6-4 advantage at half-time.
The visitors failed to score in the third but the Guards team benefited from their local knowledge and went further ahead with three further goals in the third. Only the Moscow team found the flag in the fourth, but this rally was too late to change the final outcome and Guards Polo Club won the match 9-5. Princess Olga presented the prizes, including best playing pony award for a 10-year-old Argentine mare that is owned by Adrian Kirby.
The eclectic guest list - which included many Russian VIPs - then headed to the Clubhouse for the Twilight Dinner, accompanied, of course, by Ivan The Terrible cocktails.
