Hanbury boys top League Three at half-way stage of Cartier Queen's Cup league matches

The Hanbury’s El Remanso team continued their winning form by taking their second league match victory at Coworth Park this afternoon. They had beaten the highly fancied Zacara on the first day of the competition exactly a week ago and continued to impress in this game against Nick Clarke’s Salkeld (rec 1 goal).

El Remanso were 3-0 up at the end of the first, with Salkeld  failing to score at all. This was surprising as this team had impressed everyone with their game when they defeated Sumaya in a league match last week.  At Coworth today, both teams only managed a goal apiece in the second but two goals for El Remanso in third confirmed their dominance in this match, with the scoreboard reading 6-2 at half-time.

Incredibly El Remanso and Salkeld failed to score in the fourth. Two  goals for El Remanso in the fifth to only one in reply from Salkeld gave the Hanbury boys an 8-3 advantage going into the final seven minutes. And although El Remanso failed to score in this last chukka, Salkeld could only close the gap by two, allowing El Remanso to win the match. This puts them at the top of League Three as the only team to have won two games so far in League Three.
