AFB won the Keith Prowse Spring Tournament last Sunday. Clive Reid's talented six-goal team is no stranger to victory in this competition, having won the trophy in 2008. This year AFB defeated Clare Mathias’s Clarita 11-6, and Reid received the trophy from Mrs Peter Selby of Keith Prowse.
There was not much to choose between the two teams in the first two chukkas, with the scores were level at half-time. However it was a different story in the second half, with AFB dominating the match. Pete Webb and Chino Leiva produced a strong partnership for AFB and were ably supported by a new member of the team - James Carr. This competiition was his first at Guards Polo Club and James impressed all in this final. He is definitely one to watch this season.
The subsidiary final saw a win for Ithaca. They defeated Shalimar 6-3.
An impressive 15 teams entered this year’s Spring Tournament – two up on last year - and such strength in numbers bodes well for the rest of the season at Guards Polo Club.
