Ganjam, India's leading fine jeweller, exhibited six of its amazing collections in the Clubhouse during the Ganjam Jaipur Trophy Day last Saturday (27 June). The collections on display included Spring in Platinum, Paisley, Heritage, Lace, Fire & Ice and Bandhan, in which every piece is hand made. Everyone that visited the beautiful exhibiton in the Cluhbouse agreed that the standards of craftsmanship and design are among the very best in the world.

The Heritage collection is particularly interesting as it is still made in the traditional way in 22 carat by craftsmen who sit cross legged handworking the gold over a charcoal fire. The gemstones are set using the unique centuries old Southern Indian technique of Kundela Velai in which pure gold foil is gently pressed into place to reflect back the light and hold the stones in place.

There was plenty of sparkling polo on the field too. Momin Sheikh's BHC Polo won the Ganjam Jaipur Trophy after defeating Alan Morello's Los Borrachos 8-4. This was not only a game for the impressive Jaipur Trophy, but was also the opening game of the 6-12-goal Phoenician Cup.

The Ganjam Jaipur Trophy game was followed by the Asia Cup match which featured a closer game between India and a Polistas London team (rec 2 goals). The home team were leading 5-3 thanks to their handicap advantage at half-time, but the Indian team pulled away in the final two chukkas to win the game 7-6. Abhimanyu Pathak was named The Most Valuable Player of the match. The Asia Cup is traditionally played as part of the annual Celebrasian Festival which celebrates the links and traditions between the Anglo and Indian communities.
